Concord Street Sweets is back to the Market after being away for several weeks. We have been to Birmingham, Savannah, and the North Carolina mountains this summer. Our family schedule in June was so irregular, it was challenging to remember what day it was. While we love to travel, it is true that there is no place as happy and comfortable as home! We are glad to be back, and now we are looking forward to a familiar schedule.

We hope you all are having a splendid summer. Thank you for supporting locally grown agriculture and for choosing to purchase locally. We’ll see you at the Market.

Thanks,

Beverly

We hope everyone is enjoying summer. Our house is happy and alternately relaxed and busy. The boys are learning new skills and having fun at soccer camp and performing arts camp, and we have a family trip coming up soon.

Have you ever noticed that cows, chickens, goats, and gardens are oblivious to the holidays of human beings? Cows and goats still need to be milked, chickens keep laying eggs, and the abundance of the garden still needs picking. So, just remember that while summer is a time for most of us to relax, our farmers and producers are working as hard as ever and appreciate having orders to fill.

We hope you all have a great Sunday, and we’ll see you at the Market.

Thanks,

Beverly

This week, I continually reminded myself that life is a marathon, not a sprint! And I’m here to tell you that if the school year had lasted one more day, someone would have had to carry my children and me over the finish line! We are SO thankful that school is out for summer.

Summer is my favorite season of the year. I love seeing a glowing sun in a cobalt sky. I love the heat, the long bright days, and the juicy tomatoes from the garden. I love being on or near water, whether it be lake, beach, or pool. So, with a summer theme in mind, here is a poem I’d like to share with you.

Summer Sun
by Robert Louis Stevenson

Great is the sun, and wide he goes
Through empty heaven with repose;
And in the blue and glowing days
More thick than rain he showers his rays.

Though closer still the blinds we pull
To keep the shady parlour cool,
Yet he will find a chink or two
To slip his golden fingers through.

The dusty attic spider-clad
He, through the keyhole, maketh glad;
And through the broken edge of tiles
Into the laddered hay-loft smiles.

Meantime his golden face around
He bares to all the garden ground,
And sheds a warm and glittering look
Among the ivy’s inmost nook.

Above the hills, along the blue,
Round the bright air with footing true,
To please the child, to paint the rose,
The gardener of the World, he goes.

Thank you for supporting locally grown agriculture and for buying locally. Have a great Sunday, and we’ll see you at the Market.

Thanks,

Beverly

One more week of school and then my kids are on summer break! It is exciting and stressful at the same time. We have had lots of special activities and events this month and still have several to get through this week. My family is looking forward to a more relaxed pace of life starting next week!
