Happy Memorial Day; The Market is Open

Good morning.

The Wednesday Market is open for orders. Please place your order by 10 p.m. Monday. Orders are ready for pick up between 3 and 6 p.m. Wednesday. See the website for this week’s product offerings. Here is the link: https://wednesdaymarket.locallygrown.net/market

This week, I continually reminded myself that life is a marathon, not a sprint! And I’m here to tell you that if the school year had lasted one more day, someone would have had to carry my children and me over the finish line! We are SO thankful that school is out for summer.

Summer is my favorite season of the year. I love seeing a glowing sun in a cobalt sky. I love the heat, the long bright days, and the juicy tomatoes from the garden. I love being on or near water, whether it be lake, beach, or pool. So, with a summer theme in mind, here is a poem I’d like to share with you.

Summer Sun
by Robert Louis Stevenson

Great is the sun, and wide he goes
Through empty heaven with repose;
And in the blue and glowing days
More thick than rain he showers his rays.

Though closer still the blinds we pull
To keep the shady parlour cool,
Yet he will find a chink or two
To slip his golden fingers through.

The dusty attic spider-clad
He, through the keyhole, maketh glad;
And through the broken edge of tiles
Into the laddered hay-loft smiles.

Meantime his golden face around
He bares to all the garden ground,
And sheds a warm and glittering look
Among the ivy’s inmost nook.

Above the hills, along the blue,
Round the bright air with footing true,
To please the child, to paint the rose,
The gardener of the World, he goes.

Thank you for supporting locally grown agriculture and for buying locally. Have a great Sunday, and we’ll see you at the Market.

Thanks,

Beverly

P.S. Concord Street Sweets will be away from the Market for the next three or four weeks. We have some traveling to do.
