Even though it’s a bit of a nuisance getting in and out of my car during the rain, I am happy that it’s pouring down. Yesterday was busy with transplanting tomatoes and peppers into the garden spot at our house. And the houseplants that have already been moved outdoors were treated with new soil. So the rain is nourishing them all this afternoon.
How are you spending this rainy day? Believe it or not, we have a soccer game scheduled and are waiting on word whether it will be played. Soccer players are hearty folks. Generally if the fields aren’t standing in water, and there is no lightning and thunder, soccer games go on. I guess I’ll wear my rubber boots!
We are supposed to have rainy weather through Wednesday, so bring your umbrellas when you come to get your orders. We’ll see you then.

Concord Street Sweets is taking a break from the Market this week. The kids are out of school on Spring Break, so I want to do something fun with them.
Concord Garden Club’s annual Lunch and Learn is Thursday, April 19, at the Strickland Building in Concord. Doors open at 11 a.m. Don’t miss your chance to hear an outstanding garden expert Harold McDonnell present a talk on “Shady Characters – Exciting Perennials for the Shade Garden.” Bring your lunch. Dessert and beverages are provided. The event is free. Vendors will be selling all manner of garden items, so do some shopping while you are there!

Tomorrow is Easter Sunday. Is it weird that it also falls on “April Fool’s Day”? I hope that Mother Nature is not fooling us with this pleasant weather, only to smack us with another cold spell soon! Our houseplants made their semiannual migration out to the porch this afternoon. We sure don’t want them to get zapped by a potential frost, but we also don’t want to move them back inside either!

Does it seem that time is speeding up? Here we are, the first Sunday in March! And next weekend, we adjust to daylight savings time. I am thankful for the mild weather lately, but cannot help feeling that Mother Nature may play a mean trick on us with a late freeze! I certainly hope not, but we’ll see. In the meantime, today is a splendid day to be outside enjoying the brilliant sunshine and fresh air (if you’re not sensitive to pollen!). We’ll be at the soccer fields this afternoon.
