Time to Order
Good afternoon.
The Wednesday Market is open for orders. Please place your order by 10 p.m. Monday. Orders are ready for pick up between 3 and 6 p.m. Wednesday. Check the website for all of this week’s product offerings. Here is the link: http://wednesdaymarket.locallygrown.net/market
Our gardens are in full production mode! The green beans in Mama’s garden need to be picked just about every day now. She has been putting them up in quart size canning jars. They will reappear at Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. How wonderful it is to have homegrown vegetables in the late fall and winter.
The weather is so hot that I don’t much feel like heating the kitchen up to cook. I am satisfied with a pimento cheese sandwich or a tomato sandwich, but Charlie’s birthday is at the end of this week (he’s turning 8!), and he has requested some of his favorite foods. Last night he was delighted to sit down to a supper of glazed meatloaf, mashed potatoes, biscuits, tomatoes, cucumbers, and lady peas. Also on his list is chicken and dumplings. We’ll see about that later in the week.
